    Deputy Minister of Commerce and Investment inaugurates the Electronic Applications Exhibition at Asharqia Chamber.

     

    Deputy Minister of Commerce and Investment, Majid Al-Bawardi, inaugurated the electronic applications exhibition that was organized by Asharqia Chamber on Thursday, May 8, 2018, in the presence of the Chamber's President, Mr. Abdul Hakim bin Hamad Al-Ammar Al-Khalidi, with the participation of 50 electronic applications presented by the owners from several regions in the Kingdom (Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, Jeddah in addition to the Eastern Province).

    The exhibition witnessed the attendance of a number of members of the Board of Directors and a great number of visitors, where the theater was filled in the ground floor at the headquarters of the Chamber. It continued until Wednesday.

    It has presented a number of services, public and specialized services, in the provision of services such as transport, party planning, delivery of food, sale and rental of books as well as travel, transportation and livestock applications. There are some applications that are to develop some life skills such as diving skills and etc.

    The exhibition was organized by the Chamber-represented by the Center for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises- and was characterized by the desire to provide the best services and information. The Chamber has approved the award of prizes for the top five applications from the participating applications in the exhibition. This prizes have follow certain criteria, including ease of use and number of users and the security situation characterized by the application and so on.

    The Chamber's Chairman, Abdulhakeem Bin Hamad Al-Ammar Al-Khalidi, said that the Chamber seeks to provide the opportunity for the owners of these applications, designers and application programmers to present their works to the public and to investors in particular, thus creating a stimulating environment for entrepreneurs in this field.

    Al-Khalidi pointed out that the Chamber has allocated an amount of 100 thousand riyals as incentive prizes for the best 5 applications participating in the exhibition. It is in order to promote the spirit of honest competition, raise the level of participation and stimulate innovative creative ideas in the field of digital electronic applications, which has become one of the languages of the era of globalization and social networking, and the best mechanism for trade and investment.

     

    Al-Khalidi pointed out that the exhibition, which is held for the first time in Asharqia Chamber, is consistent with the local and international markets that witnessed a marked increase in the number of applications and electronic programs. Some of these applications provide local and innovative ideas that provide various goods and services, and they are in a permanent and continuous expansion. He hoped that this event would be successful and that it would achieve its objectives.

    The seminar on applications was chaired by the CEO of Innosoft, Louay Labani, with the participation of specialists and the most prominent achievements in this area and the challenges facing. During this seminar, the chief executive of the application "Morni" said that the implementation of the project began in 2013 in order to improve the driver's experience on the road, and to cover the gaps in the local market. It is indicating that the project started with simple possibilities. The team was able to develop it technically until it embraced 90% of the talented Saudis in this field since it was launched in 2015.

    In addition, Mohammed Al-Razzaz, the chief executive of the application "Jak", explained at the beginning of his speech that the participatory economy is a socio-economic system based on the sharing of resources and human and material assets between individuals and private and public institutions. He pointed out that the purpose of this system is that any commercial service is based on the principle of participation of individuals or institutions of the assets they own. So, individuals or institutions with those assets that are always or sometimes available would provide free services.

    On the application "Jak," Al-Razzaz said Jak is a company that is changing the current way in which shipments and parcels are sent within cities by enabling individuals and companies to send and receive shipments on the same day.

    At the end of the seminar, board member, Nasser Al-Ansari, honored the participants in the seminar with commemorative shields.​
